How did Social Media Change Your Life?

Internet is great. There is no doubt.

I remember when I grew up and internet and computers just started to become a thing for the middle-class. If used correctly, it was a way to find information about things that interested you. Cellphones started becoming a thing at this time too, so I found a lot of information about cellphones. I read about the Nokias and knew "everything" that you needed to know about the phones. There were not a lot of them at that time, so learning "everything" was quick.

Using the internet to gain knowledge today is even easier. But there is so much information about everything, just consider how many results you get when you google something. Usually millions, right?

To use the internet successfully in this era, I think you need to have some basic skills. Like critical thinking to know whether what you read is true or false. Is someone trying to mislead you? And perhaps, even more important, trying to figure out what somebody is trying to gain by putting the content out there.

That is where social media makes things difficult. Content creators will put out content to make it. By making it, you can work full-time with social media (and become what is called an "influencer") and turn your life around.

Remember when the road to being famous were restricted? You could be an author, artist, be in a reality show and things of that nature. Now you can make great (or even not so great...) content on social media.

So in this era where most people use social media, the world around us has grown much larger. If you are old, like me, perhaps you remember comparing to someone on your highschool. Maybe the coolest, most fit person? Well, now the highschool students get to compare themselves with the coolest and most fit persons in the world through social media.

Surely, with this addition to our lives, it must be harder to stay sane and confident in the path you decided for yourself.

An update

Hey dear readers! I was downtown today and got my haircut, feels great! I had some funny experiences today. First one was when I passed some kids in my wheelchair. They tried to bully me like kids usually do, calling me a loser and stuff because I'm in a wheelchair. Unfortunately for them, a friend I met there is a teacher at the school they go to. He said he would inform their parents about their behaviour. I'm not affected by those who look down on people in a wheelchair, so their insult had no effect except they'll have their parents yelling at them in a couple of days. :-D Something I remember from Family Guy (spoiler alert) is when Joe purposely falls out of his wheelchair and struggles to get back in it, the prisonguards are looking away because they think it's awkward. I decided I would try out something like this today when I were looking at new shoes. So, I went in to a mall and cruised into a shoe shop. I casually looked at some converse and decided I ...

A fine gesture by Iniesta

The humble midfielder Andrés Iniesta made some headlines in Spain when he saved the old the club he played in as a kid by becoming their main shareholder. During a ceremony at Albacetes arena with a new name, "Ciudad Deportiva Andrés Iniesta", Iniesta thanked the club for naming the arena after him and took the moment in act to urge the kids of the club to make use of the facilities. He told them to make use of every moment and do their best to develop and follow their dream to be a professional football player. He said he was an Albacete fan too and that together they would manage to get through the spanish third division club crisis. I really like this gesture. It's always nice when you read positive headlines about superstars like Iniesta. The clubs crest.
